November Newletter!

Happy November Lobos!  A chill is in the air on our weekday mornings! If you are out and about on our DeMiguel campus you will see that our staff  is now wearing yellow vests. This helps the students to be able to identify the adults, and for us to see each other!
I want to thank everyone that attended our Fall Carnival last night,  It was a huge success. Thank you PTO for organizing it and getting great volunteers! We sure did enjoy ourselves. It is so wonderful to see our former DeMiguel students returning to our events to say “hello”—-We had so many stop by during the evening, thank you!
Our PTO has approved us using the Fun Run fundraising monies on an Ipad Cart and 30 Ipads. I will let everyone know when these are delivered and how we are implementing them in our classrooms. We are very excited about using this new technology in the classrooms.
Parent/teacher conferences are quickly approaching. The dates are November 18th, 21st and 22nd. Students will be dismissed at 12:25. This  is such an important  part of your child’s education. We enjoy meeting with parents/guardians to talk about YOUR child!
Our Lobo Pride incentive program is a huge success. I am drawing 6 names of students per day that are following one of  the character traits—-Trustworthiness, Responsibility, Respect, Fairness, Caring, and Integrity. The students know why they are getting a Lobo paw! As a staff, we are looking for students doing the right thing!!

State Grade

Hey everyone! The state released the new state grading system today. DeMiguel achieved an B rating. Thank you to all the staff, families and STUDENTS!!! We couldn't have done it without the hard work and dedication of many folks! Let's keep working hard!
On Tues, October 18, DeMiguel will be having a Native American Culture Celebration.  We need a parent or parents to help with one of the ingredients for Navajo Tacos.  We need someone to make the beans & ground beef portion of the taco's.  There needs to be enough for around 70 people.

If you are interested in helping please contact the coordinator Al Scott for more information.  You can contact him at ascott@fusd1.org.

Happy October!

Happy October Lobos! We have a great start to our school year. Last month we had our All Star Fun Run! DeMiguel raised $20,000, from this fundraiser. I did receive some feedback and we will adapt our run next year. Yes, the athletes are  returning next year. The athletes and their positive student interactions inside and outside the classroom helped fill our school with positive energy and a great community feel. Here is what I do for kids!!! Yes,  I spent the entire day on this tricycle, oh yeah, did I mention I had 6 pies thrown in my face? Good times! Thank you to our PTO members and all the parents that volunteered during the Fun Run to help mark the students' shirts. It was a great day!

We have had one Walk to School Day. There were over 125 students and staff members that walked from various locations. We appreciate all the parents that joined us! The students were excited to wear their Lobo Pride bracelets and showed me them throughout the day! I know our second Walk to School Day will be just as successful!

I hope you have stopped by and see the fantastic things that are happening in and out of our classrooms. Our teachers are meeting weekly to discuss curriculum maps, instructional strategies, and the various we can meet the needs of students. I feel we are on the right track!
