All Star

DeMiguel's Fall Fundraiser, the all star fun run, began today.  Your children were sent home with a lanyard that contains a pamphlet with information about the fun run, the prizes and their personal ID.  All pledges need to be recorded at allstarfunrun.com with your child's personal ID and the email of the person making the pledge.  If you DO NOT have internet access, your pledges can be recorded on the back of the pamphlet.

First day of school

Hi Lobos! We had a terrific first day of school. Thank you for your patience and "big smiles" while we were getting students to the correct classrooms and getting settled. Next week, beginning August 22nd, our kindergarteners will go to the gym before school and all first through fifth graders will be going to the field. All kindergarten students, after exiting buses, will enter the building on the lower east side. There will be many of us outside assisting students. Kindergarten students---please keep your name tags on---they are very helpful.

AllStar Fun Run!

Thank you for your support of DeMiguel and the investments you make in your children’s lives.  We are grateful that we have such a supportive parent base that is willing to help in so many ways.  We have a great opportunity to make a difference in our children’s lives with this trimester’s only major fundraiser, the AllStar Fun Run.  All funds raised this year will be going towards technology.
We will be kicking off the AllStar Fun Run with a Pep Rally on Aug. 26th.  Please look for your child’s folder and for e-mails that will be sent to you from teachers.   Please feel free to also visit www.allstarfunrun.com to hear about our fun and interactive program that helps schools all over the country raise money while promoting leadership and fitness.  This year students will be learning about leadership and fitness as they trek through the AllStar Ascend character theme!

Stop by on August 10th, at noon! We will have class lists posted on the door!

Welcome Back Lobos!

July 26th , 2011
Dear Parents and Students:

Welcome to the 2011-2012 school year!  I hope this letter finds you having a wonderful summer filled with family, friends, and of course- FUN! If you are new to DeMiguel—Welcome! You are now an official LOBO! Spirit Day is every Friday.  Our students and staff wear black, teal, or grey.

We have hired some wonderful new teachers.  Please help us welcome our new staff members to DeMiguel!

On Wednesday, August 10th, we will post the class lists/maps on the front and side doors at 12:00 (noon). This gives families the opportunity to see classmates, teachers, and room assignments. The lists will stay up throughout the first week of school.

One of our school goals is to build “community” with families and community members. We are working on creating a climate that educates all students and allows for flexibility of different learning styles and maximizing potential of every student. There are certain expectations for every grade level--so stay tuned for exciting happenings in your child’s classroom.

In order to facilitate better communication; we are looking at ways to communicate through emails, Facebook, our DeMiguel website, Connect Ed phone calls, and teachers’ letters home. If you have a specific question, please email me.

The DeMiguel team encourages families to become involved in all aspects of their child’s educational experience. Research has demonstrated that students achieve a higher level of academic achievement if their parents are actively involved. At DeMiguel, we believe that families and staff working together create an environment that enables students’ success.  As your principal I am committed to creating the best educational experience for your child. Let the learning begin!

REMINDER:
All visitors need to stop by the office to obtain a Visitor’s Pass. There will be a reminder on all classroom doors. We will check ID of individuals coming in to pick up students early. Except for the front door, the doors will remain locked during the day.

Sincerely,
Ninon Wilson
